Monday Insights: Like ’90s Nike

mon1What do you have to do? What is it that will make you progress and get closer to your goals? Whatever that is, just do it.

The more we sit around thinking about doing something, instead of just doing it, the longer it takes for that thing to be accomplished.

mon2I’ve been sitting on my hands with a particular project for over a month and as such, there has been absolutely no forward movement on it for that same length of time. For all I know I could have missed beneficial opportunities, just because I’m ‘twiddling my thumbs’ when it comes to this particular project, instead of just getting down to brass tacks.

No more. In fact, this post is extra short today because I’m heading off to just do it.

mon3So wonderful readers, let’s try hard this week to put one foot in front of the other, take one step at a time and get what needs to be done . . . done.

Wishing you all a very productive week and for more tidbits like this one, search using the keywords Monday Insights :).

  1. Jackie, at the heart of this is the issue of motivation. We have to move away from looking to motivation as the impetus to action. I came across an excellent post from James Clear which really opened my eyes to this idea. It boils down to “Just Follow the Process and Fall in Love with the Boredom”. Motivation always travel with its two twins: peak and valley. We all know about the valley and trying to dig our way out over the course of a goal. So just schedule what must be done and attack it daily on a fixed schedule, and without concern to matching the prior day productivity. Another one of James’ excellent articles is on the topic of “Average Speed”. Hope this helps you and others.
