Monday Insights: Don’t Be A Coward

courage1Cowardice doesn’t just mean running away from twenty foot dragons while women and children beg for help. It isn’t just about hiding behind the nearest door as your boss passes by barking orders. Cowardice can manifest in a number of ways.

When I first started having to pay my own bills and learnt all about the ‘wonderful world’ of debt, sometimes I’d hide behind screening numbers, so I wouldn’t have to answer the phone and explain why a payment would be late. Later on I realised that I needed to take the bull by the horns and not shy away from dealing with money business, it was simply a part of life.

monday2Being a coward can mean not answering a phone call or text when you’re not sure what to say to someone, it could be allowing someone else to take the blame for what you’ve done, letting another speak for you when you should be, looking the other way when someone needs you . . . it could be so many things that sometimes we don’t even realise are putting us into the same box as the word – coward.

monday1So, this week and onward, let’s try to be brave. Let’s do all we can to ensure that we step up to the plate when need be and, if it’s dragons we’ve got to fight, let’s join together and take them on too ^_^.
