Random Wednesdays: Flies Gotta Eat (Flash)

Getting ready for the release of my YA paranormal/fantasy Secrets of the Tenari is fun, so is a bit of flash while you wait :).

~ The fly crawled into the open mouth, still sticky with blood and settled spit. Finding the scene less interesting than the nest hisflies friends inhabited outside, the fly joined them, traipsing in and out of the ear canal where a tasty meal could be had. Five hours before, that ear had been listening to the radio, which was now silent, the head had been bopping intermittently to favourite songs and the eyes had been checking makeup, just to be sure everything was perfect. Everything had been, until they came. The violent humanoids from underground.

The fly recognised the shift in power, and had no quarrel with these new beings. He had eaten well in the last days and even when he passed on and became nothing more than a corpse on the ground, the others would reap the benefits.

The fly moved on, there were other delicacies to be enjoyed on this vast highway. ~

  1. Really wasn’t expecting that, nicely done. great intro, i’d read that book about them underground humanoids. unless they’re morlocks. i cant deal with morlocks.

  2. Nice contrast – of something as mundane as a fly with an unknown supernatural force…
