Friday Highlights 2

It’s the weekend! Sing it with me (come on, I’m sure there are songs out there with that exact line ^^). Welcome to the second edition of Friday Highlights and this time, I want to tell you a ghost story . . .

Well, not exactly, but Anil Balan can. He recently celebrated the one year anniversary of his blog Ghost Cities and let me tell you, it’s a pretty awesome place to hang out. Notย  only do you get tons of great information about ghosts and other supernatural beings, backgrounds into ‘haunted haciendas’ etc, but you are also privy to a world of reviews, urban legends and Anil’s own work, which spans across many genres including: horror, mystery, comedy, thriller and fantasy. Go get deliciously spooked here: ‘Ghost Cities’

For me this week has been a good one ๐Ÿ™‚ . . .

1) Physically I don’t feel 100% but in the land of fiction, it was all about mind over matter. I worked through the heat and the mire and clay (okay, maybe the last bit is an exaggeration ^^).

2) The first rough draft of the YAntasy is finished. Let me repeat: It is finished! (Break out the Bajan cherry juice woot!)

A couple days late but yay all the same :).

3) I’ve started on a short story in the horror genre, that I’d like to submit to this competition: ‘Bloody Parchment’. So, any other interested parties, check it out :).

4) I think I’m starting to get the hang of ‘Jackie on Twitter’. Stay tuned for further developments, as I continuously work towards better understanding social networking ^^.

Be safe and happy this weekend and spread the love to others. Make sure you check out the new ‘don’t’ on my ‘Caribbean Dos & Don’ts’ page and see you Monday :D!

  1. Freakin’ amazing!!!! Grats on the finished draft! ๐Ÿ™‚

That is always the toughest part for me, b/c I actually don’t mind editing much at all. (Which is funny, since I’m sneaking out of editing work right now to check some emails.) lol

I’m doing better on Twitter too, as well as FB… but still can’t seem to be consistent on anything. Guess we just keep plugging along.

    1. Yes I’m beginning to believe that consistency is a virtue in itself, also, if you don’t mind editing, I’ve some work that am . . . lols, kidding. I think my problem with editing is that it makes me want to throw the work against a wall at least a few times before I’m finished, cause I see it over and over and over. What’s funny is that as long as I step back for a bit and come back after doing it, I fall in love all over again. I’ve decided that the former reaction is my characters’ way of getting back at me for the hardships lols.

      1. It is quite possible they are trying to even the score. lol

I do try to give just a little time between drafts. Even a few days can really help let my brain look at it differently. Otherwise, I’m just second guessing everything I just did. ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. Yea, taking breaks should be a good thing, but I realise they don’t agree with me. I become to complacent and end up not doing anything for much longer than the break was intended. I tried this time, just to see again, but, the four days has turned into a couple more. Heh I know myself and it’s unfortunate, but this week has proven once more that I have to stay on the horse until I’m completely done what I want to be finished.

          1. That’s the fascinating thing about the writing process. It is so different for each person, and we all have to learn how to get the job done with all of our own strengths and weaknesses. Best of luck! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. It’s interesting, I think that’s the best description I have for horror. I don’t think blood and gore are the basis for it and that makes me try to work harder to figure out, what will terrify unsuspecting strangers lols. I assume I’ll know if I’ve been successful with these attempts soon enough ^^.
